Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is an inflammatory chronic skin disease that has many different phenotypes. In daily practice, the Hurley classification is used to classify the type of HS. An important limitation of this classification, is that the inflammatory component and the extensiveness of the disease are not taken into account. For this reason, the HS working group of the Dutch Society for Dermatology and Venereology added nuance to this ‘classic’ classification. Through these nuances, the adapted Hurley classification allows for accurate classification of the different phenotypes. Next to this, the working group added an algorithm for treatment determination to the adapted Hurley classification. The app makes it easy for health care professionals to use the adapted classification in daily practice.
